One part artist and one part cookbook author, our Chef In Residence, Loreal Gavin is a fourth generation farmer who grew up in northern Indiana and Louisiana where she fell in love with growing her own ingredients.
As the chef at Bourbon Barrel Foods, she creates one-of-a-kind dining experiences with art, education, recipes with bourbon as her muse. Her intimate supper club takes place in the historic Butchertown Market at the Bourbon Barrel Foods Monogram Kitchen Studio in Louisville, Kentucky.
You may have seen her laughing and cooking on The Today Show, Rachel Ray, Food Network Star, Cutthroat kitchen, The Cooking Channel, The Hallmark Channel or read her literary work ‘The Butcherbabe’ cookbook.
Most recently she produced and hosted her own digital series for CMT, ‘The Downtown Farmer’ where she traveled to urban farms in search of farm fresh ingredients to serve on her Los Angeles based food truck. Loreal’s love of travel and adventure land her in the most unique locations from Maui to New York City where she concocts culinary creations for her clients. Always using love as her favorite ingredient, she reinvents dishes by playfully introducing international flavors with local ingredients.
