Each month, Bourbon Barrel Foods invites a local mixologist to teach guests how to create a few of his or her favorite cocktails. On July 17th, the head mixologist from The Oakroom of The Seelbach, Eron Plevan, lead a mixology class in the Kitchen Studio.

The menu included: Copper Crowns are Still Crowns (an old fahioned made with Copper and King’s barrel-aged brandy), Mexican Smoked Break (a Mezcal margarita with Woodford Reserve Bourbon), Bourbon Street Sour, and Quill Pens and Kentucky Ink (a bourbon cocktail that incorporated Quill’s Coffee).

The hands-on class lead guests through the history of the cocktail, basic techniques, and home bar staples.

Along with the cocktails, guests enjoyed classic Bourbon Barrel Foods hors d’oeuvres prepared by Matt. Matt’s menu included crustini with whipped goat cheese and Bourbon Smoked Paprika, Bourbon Smoked Paprika Popcorn, buttermilk pesto pasta salad with Bluegrass Soy Sauce, Kentuckyaki chicken skewers, and umami burgers.
