Meet the makers at Safai Coffee Company. When Mike and Medora Safai stumbled into the coffee world, they lit a spark of passion for exploration that would soon become a driving force in their continued pursuit of perfection in the craft. In 1998, the couple opened their first store in Louisville, Kentucky. The 72-square-foot drive-thru kiosk was a humble beginning, but it was inside that kiosk that the Safais built a curiosity for coffee into a love for it. Rather than forcing coffee to suit them, the Safai's learned to understand and adapt their roasting techniques to the strengths and depths of each individual bean.

This whole-bean coffee is roasted in reclaimed Kentucky bourbon barrels. There is no alcohol content, but the rich, charred oak lends flavors of the South's favorite dark spirit to the coffee beans.
