Description
Jason Cohen, a Louisville, Kentucky native and friend of Bourbon Barrel Foods, has been making classic and one-of-a-kind designs for over twenty years. From entire restaurants, to simple projects, Jason has used the materials around his home state of Kentucky to craft his unique pieces of art and furniture. Matt, Bourbon Barrel Foods Founder and Owner, and Jason have a long-time friendship and we have called on Jason to outfit all of Bourbon Barrel Foods interior’s – from our flagship store and marketplace to the Bourbon Barrel Foods headquarters and tradeshows.
In 1988 Jason was in a car accident where he lost use of his dominant left hand. He had to switch which side of the brain he used the most, which opened up new avenues of creativity, and allowed him to try new things. From the first time he touched tools he had an instant love of woodworking and it showed in every thing he built. It was not long before Jason began making smaller items to sell and built up his shop with every tool he needed. He started getting commissions and making a name for himself in Louisville, Kentucky. Jason realized that using old wood or otherwise unusable materials would be his calling. He built the Blind Pig and 732 social entirely out of Dumpster wood and old barns. Bourbon Barrel Aged Coffee is Safai Coffee Company's 100% Arabica beans that have been flame-roasted and aged in a bourbon barrel once used for making Kentucky Bourbon. Each batch of coffee is tested to ensure that the bean is given the perfect roast and aging time. The result is a whole bean coffee with notes of deep chocolate, caramel and bourbon. There is no alcohol content, but the rich, charred oak lends flavors of the South's favorite dark spirit.
