Bourbon Smoked Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini
Incorporate Bourbon Smoked Pumpkin Spice into your fall cocktails. Try adding a pinch to a bourbon old fashioned or mixing it into a pumpkin spice espresso martini – it’s great as a rim seasoning and garnish.
Make the Pumpkin Simple Syrup:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup pumpkin purée
- 1 teaspoon Bourbon Barrel Aged Madagascar Vanilla
- ½ teaspoon Bourbon Smoked Pumpkin Spice
Method:
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the water and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add the pumpkin purée, vanilla extract, and Bourbon Smoked Pumpkin Spice to the saucepan. Stir to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Be careful not to let it boil.
- Once the syrup has thickened slightly and the spices are well-incorporated, remove it from the heat. Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a heatproof container to remove any pumpkin solids and spices.
- Let the syrup cool to room temperature. Once cooled, transfer it to a clean glass jar or bottle with a tight-fitting lid. Store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Make the Cocktail:
Ingredients:
- 1 oz vodka or bourbon
- 1 oz coffee liqueur (like Kahlúa)
- 1 oz freshly brewed espresso (or strong coffee), cooled
- 1 oz pumpkin spice syrup
- Ice cubes
- Bourbon Smoked Pumpkin Spice, for garnish
- Coffee beans, for garnish (optional)
Method:
- Chill a martini glass by filling it with ice water. Let it sit while you prepare the cocktail.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso, and pumpkin spice syrup. Add a handful of ice cubes.
- Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds. This helps to create a frothy top for your martini.
- Empty the ice water from your martini glass. Strain the cocktail mixture into the chilled glass.
- Sprinkle a pinch of pumpkin pie spice on top. For an extra touch, consider adding a few coffee beans as a garnish.
